Zakat ul Fitr (fitrana)

$20.00

Every adult Muslim who possesses food in excess of their needs must pay Zakat al-Fitr (fitrana) per the order of the Prophet (may peace and blessings be upon him).

**Abdullah Ibn ‘Umar said that the Prophet (may peace and blessings be upon him) ordered the people to pay Zakat al Fitr before going to the Eid prayer. (Hadith, Bukhari) **

Zakat al-Fitr can be paid anytime during Ramadan but must be paid before Eid al-Fitr prayers begin.

These funds are required to be spent on zakat eligible individuals (i.e. the underprivileged).

Zakat al-Fitr is intended to help the underprivileged receive the fitrana in time to facilitate their participation and enjoyment of Eid festivities.

Each household must pay Zakat al-Fitr for each resident dependent, and dependents that may reside in other locations.

Zakat al-Fitr (fitrana) equals approximately 2 kg of wheat flour, rice or other staple per member of the household.

100% of your donation will go to zakat-eligible underprivileged individuals and families.
